As I write this we are working on an instructional video for installation of our GR Corolla / GR Yaris Intake Manifold, so I thought it a good time to address some of the common questions we get asked.
WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
When unboxing your new GR Intake Manifold, you should epect to find the following; 1) The Intake Manifold (Duhh) 2) Detailed instruction Manual 3) Viton O-rings 4) Various clamps & fittings 5) Weldspeed sticker...the real reason for your purchase🤣
IS IT A DIRECT BOLT-ON ITEM? When optioned to suit OEM throttle - Yes. Our supplied detailed instructions will guide you on the best method for installation and fitment. Video coming...
When optioned for 60mm overbore - No. While the product will still bolt onto the engine as usual, the larger 60mm Bosch DBW throttle requires a new throttle plug to be pinned & customisation of the intercooler pipe where it meets the throttle.
WILL MY ENGINE COVER STILL FIT? Yes, BUT... The engine cover will touch the new Intake Manifold on the front edge when installed, which for many is undersirable.
With some neat trimming of the cover in the right places to create some clearance around the plenum, it can be made to fit perfectly. If you're not confident in being able doing this neatly yourself, we recommend getting a professional to do the job.
We have not provided information or a template on how to do this, as there are a number of ways you could tackle this depending on how you want your engine cover to look.
WILL MY CAR NEED A TUNE? or WILL IT SHOW A "CEL" IF UN-TUNED?
No. From all of our testing so far, including customer and workshop feedback, there are no issues installing this product on a completely factory car if you wish to do so.
The gains in the low-to-midrange RPM can still be felt! We have not seen any "Check Engine Light" conditions or error codes, and have had no reports of this from any customers or workshops around the world.
Of course, as with any modification of the inlet tract, best results will be achieved by having the car professionally tuned to get the most power and efficiency out of the combination.
In summary, our G16E-GTS Intake Manifold is perfectly suitable for both the GRC & GRY platforms. We believe it represents both the best performing AND best value product of its kind on the market.
